Your boat, 'Imi Loa, is a 1988 Catalina
34, an ideal San Francisco Bay boat and quite possibly the
most popular cruiser/racer in its size range on the Bay.
A stiff and comfortable yacht with many amenities, it comfortably
accommodates up to six people. While the C-34 sails well
in the typically heavy San Francisco summer winds, it is
easily handled by a couple.
'Imi Loa means to "seek" or "explore" in Hawaiian.
That's really what we hope to do in the long-term. Seek out
new adventures and to explore where no boat has gone before!
With her spacious cockpit and table, 'Imi Loa has
plenty of room for enoying cocktails and snacks during quiet
evening sails or while cruising through Richardson Bay and
her bright and airy salon in the main cabin is perfect for
après-sail entertaining.
"Something about sailing a boat brings
so many senses and sensations into play that it's
very difficult to pinpoint what it is, specifically,
that makes me like it so much: the sight of sails
and sheets overhanging the water; the foam and spray
flying as the bow cuts the water; the motion of the
boat; the physical and mental ballet necessary to
handle the boat correctly.
A sailboat might just be the most beautiful, sensuous,
and intelligent blend of man/machine/elements that
exists in the world today. The relationship between
the three is the most harmonious I have experienced
so far.
Besides, you can have a beer while you do it."
