Bay Sailing for Everyone

Bay Tours
A 4- to 6-hour Bay Tour is by far the best way spend the day. Starting at South Beach Harbor mid-morning, we'll sail across the Central Bay & either head between Alcatraz and Angel Island or go through Raccoon Strait with Angel Island to port and Old Town Tiburon to starboard. We'll then reach across Richardson Bay to the Sausalito waterfront. Depending on the itinerary, we may motorsail through Richardson Bay to take advantage of the calmer waters and have some lunch.

If the current is in our favor, we can slip past Horseshoe Cove & sail under the Gate to enjoy the unspoiled scenery of the Marin Headlands.

Now we'll turn around & sail downwind past the city front. Proper etiquette dictates that we all wave and smile beatifically at the cold, wet sailors pounding upwind past us.

This part of the Bay Tour affords one of the great views of San Francisco. We'll sail past the Palace of Fine Arts, Aquatic Park, Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39 and the Manhattan-like skyline of the Embarcadero.

At this point we may go over and get a close-up view of Alcatraz, then back towards the Bay Bridge and an easy, relatively warm sail back to South Beach.

Introduction to Sailing Classes
Starting in April and running through October, we offer a fun and informative "Introduction to Sailing" class the 2nd Friday of every month. At the dock, we'll cover basic sailing terms, sailboat rigging, how sailboats work, points of sail and rules of the road. Then we'll get out on the water and you'll learn how to steer the boat, tacking and gybing, and basic sail trim. PFDs must be worn and will be provided if you don’t have one.  Sailing gloves recommended. It's just $120.00 per person for 3 hours or so and satisfaction is guaranteed! Discounts for groups of 5-6. Private classes can be arranged on request.

We also offer private clinics on anchoring, sail trim, close quarters maneuvering on your boat or ours. Call for information.

To me, nothing made by man is more beautiful than a sailboat under way in fine weather, and to be on that sailboat is to be as close to heaven as I expect to get.
It is unalloyed happiness.
